Juxtafoveal retinal telangiectasia

Differential Diagnosis

  • Coats disease: involves more peripheral retinal quadrants, more commonly temporally
  • Telangiectasia from secondary sources, including:
    • Diabetic retinopathy
    • Branch retinal vein occlusion/central retinal vein occlusion
    • Radiation retinopathy: history of ocular or cephalic radiation
    • Best disease: greater macular atrophy
    • Age-related macular degeneration: presence of drusen and greater retinal pigment epithelial changes
