Case 165 History

  • 59-year-old woman presented initially to outside ophthalmologist with complaint of green discharge OD
  • Diagnosed with “bacterial infection,” prescribed levofloxacin eyedrops and ordered an orbital CT scan
  • CT findings were suggestive of orbital cellulitis; patient sent to U-M ED where ophthalmology was consulted to evaluate chief complaints of pain with movement and mild blurry vision OD
  • Past ocular history: "Tear gland problem" OS 4 years ago
  • Ocular medications: Levofloxacin drops OD
  • Past medical history: schizophrenia, arthritis
  • Systemic medications: Zantac, Depakote, Lithium, Geodone, Mellaril
