Idiopathic peripapillary choroidal neovascular membrane

Differential Diagnosis

  • Age-related macular degeneration: unlikely in this young patient with no associated findings such as drusen
  • Presumed ocular histoplasmosis syndrome: no inflammatory findings and no scars suggestive of previous inflammation
  • Degenerative myopia: patient is not myopic
  • Angioid streaks: no angioid streaks present
  • Optic nerve head drusen: no drusen seen
  • Traumatic choroidal rupture: no history of trauma
  • Chorioretinitis: no evidence of inflammation
