Purtscher-like retinopathy induced by seat-belt trauma

Differential Diagnosis

  • Fat emboli: no associated long bone fracture; characterized by white infarcts that are typically small and peripheral
  • Acute pancreatitis: not associated with trauma
  • Malignant hypertension: not associated with trauma, absence of disc edema and macular star
