Meet in New Orleans A warm night in New Orleans provided just the right atmosphere for our annual alumni dinner during the 2001 AAO meeting. Over 130 alumni and guests enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Arnauds Restaurant and then lingered to catch up on old friends. Dont miss the fun! Join us this fall for dinner in Orlando on Monday, October 21st. Alumni Class Notes Morton Cox, M.D. (residency 1964), published Adult Retinopathy of Prematurity: Outcomes of Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachments and Retinal Tears in the September issue of Ophthalmology. James Ravin, M.D. (residency 1974), published a Special Article in the December issue of the Archives of Ophthalmology, entitled Suzanne Schiff-Wertheimer, M.D., as a Role Model. Tarek Hassan, M.D. (residency 1992), published Incidence of Retinal Detachment and Visual Outcome in Eyes Presenting with Posterior Vitreous Separation and Dense Fundus-obscuring Vitreous Hemorrhage in Ophthalmology in December and The Effect of Duration of Macular Detachment on Results after Scleral Buckle Repair of Primary, Macula-off Retinal Detachments the next month in the same journal. He also wrote a Guest Editorial for Ophthalmology in January, entitled To Peel or Not to Peel: Is That the Question? Carol Karp, M.D. (residency 1993), published an AAO Ophthalmic Procedures Assessment on intracameral anesthesia in the September issue of Ophthalmology and had an article published in the journal in December, Mycobacterium Interface Keratitis after Laser in Situ Keratomileusis. Bita Esmaeli, M.D. (residency 1994), had a paper published in the November issue of Ophthalmology entitled Patterns of Regional and Distant Metastasis in Patients with Conjunctival Melanoma: Experience at a Cancer Center Over Four Decades. She also had an article published, Surgical Treatment of Canalicular Stenosis in Patients Receiving Docetaxel Weekly in Archives of Ophthalmology (December), and another published in January, Intravitreal Hemoglobin Sherulosis: A Rare Complication of Subretinal Hemorrhage. James Izer, M.D. (residency 2002), and his wife Gina are the proud parents of Sophia Grace, born January 5. Rita Singh-Parikshak, M.D. (residency 2001, retina fellow 2003), and her husband Manesh Parikshak, M.D. welcomed daughter Sayjel on February 15. In Memoriam We mourn the passing of Devitt L. Gordon, M.D., who completed his residency in 1948, W. Clayton Anderson, Jr., M.D., who completed his residency in 1950, and Arvid J. Bradley, M.D., who completed his residency in 1960. |
