Kellogg Eye Center is ranked #6 for
“Best Overall” Ophthalmology Program

Ann Arbor -- The University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center was named one of the Best Overall Programs in ophthalmology  in an annual survey conducted by Ophthalmology Times. The Eye Center was ranked sixth in the Best Overall program category by chairs and residency directors of ophthalmology departments across the country.

In addition, the Kellogg Eye Center, part of the University of Michigan Health System, ranked in the top ten for each of the other program categories: Best Research, Best Residency, and Best Clinical Programs

Paul R. Lichter, M.D., Director of the Kellogg Eye Center and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, says that it is an honor to be named in each category, particularly when the recognition comes from peers.  “When people talk about our program, they inevitably cite the outstanding faculty,” he says. “Residents choose this training program because they see  great depth in each subspecialty, and patients come because they realize they will receive the latest advances in eye care from clinical faculty at a major research University.”

The U-M Kellogg Eye Center is a nationally recognized vision care and research center. Kellogg ophthalmologists conduct nearly 120,000 patient visits each year, offering an exceptional range of services. Kellogg also serves as a regional referral resource, providing specialty vision care that may not be available in other communities. The Eye Center has a strong research program, with an annual budget of $10 million, aimed at finding new therapies and treatments for blinding eye disease.
