Medical Retina Fellowship

Program Description

The Medical Retina Fellowship program is a one year clinical training program, which accepts one fellow per year.  Fellows will work directly with our clinical Retina faculty, which includes expertise in general medical retina, diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, inherited retinal dystrophies and ocular oncology.  The W. K. Kellogg Eye Center is a tertiary care referral center which not only services a large volume of patients each year,  but also cares for patients with some of the most advanced or complex disease.  Fellows work daily with faculty in clinic, and will also participate in the Medical Retina clinic at the local Veterans Affairs Hospital.   In addition to evaluation and management of patients in the clinic, fellows will gain expertise in intraocular injection therapy, retinal lasers, ultrasonography, and retinal imaging.  Fellows participate in weekly teaching conferences which include retinal imaging conferences, retinal dystrophy conferences, and grand rounds.  Our Retina faculty provide an annual resident lecture series, which fellows are welcome to attend as well as occasional guest lecturers.  During the fellowship, fellows are encouraged to participate in research and multiple opportunities are typically available through our numerous Retina faculty.

The Kellogg Eye Center is participating in the Retina Fellowship sponsored by the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (www.sfmatch.org).
